Johanna Peters came “back home” to Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) as a research assistant at the end of 2019. After having done her Masters and PhD at TUHH she spent 8 years in industry with MAN Energy Solutions. There she worked as a project manager for service projects all over Europe. Her scope of work ranged from blue-collar work in power-plants over technical training of customers to negotiations about long-term service contracts with CEOs. Always having reserved a big portion of her heart for teaching and supporting people in finding their individual and most coherent way in life, Johanna then worked one year as physics and math teacher. At TUHH she currently is involved in teaching mechanics, a course deemed as “very challenging” by the vast majority of not only first semester students. For her technical efforts combined with her very personal input she will be awarded with the TUHH Teaching Award 2021.

„I can’t believe it. I failed the course but now I really like it.” – How a multifactorial approach can help students change their attitude from “self-perceived looser” to “manager of their (stundent) lives“
